Introducing Corpus Cleanup and Syras 2.0
We are excited to introduce a great new feature in Syras that will help the administrator of a review to quickly prune the total number of articles you and your team need to screen. We call it Corpus Cleanup.
We also made some major technical changes to Syras, restructuring the behind-the-scenes technology to a more cloud native architecture. You shouldn’t notice many changes, but you’ll need to reset your password the first time you login after this release.
Corpus Cleanup
Corpus Cleanup lets you quickly use keyword search to find all matching abstracts, and either manually select one-by-one for deletion, or bulk delete all matching abstracts. This all happens in the workflow prior to starting screening, so every abstract deleted is time saved. You can find Corpus Cleanup on the Project Homepage, under Document Management.
We heard from customers that there was a need to quickly remove all abstracts that clearly would be excluded from a meta study. Let’s say your meta-study needs to exclude any studies conducted on rats or mice. It’s likely that if the article title has the words “rat”, “mice”, or “mouse” would not be included. Let’s see how Corpus Cleanup can help:
Once you start Corpus Cleanup, a quick text search for “rat”, and all the abstracts in which “rat” appears in the title and abstract instantly appear. Hitting select matches adds all these abstracts to the selection for potential deletion.
A second search for “mouse”, and another select matches, a third search for “mice” and another select all, and you have selected all the abstracts that could be deleted.
A final check, by clearing the search and filtering by selected abstracts only, and you can scan through the multiple pages of article titles and abstracts to ensure you’re only deleting irrelevant abstracts from the corpus.
When you’re happy with the selected abstracts, hit “Delete Selected” and they’ll be cleaned out of your corpus for good.
Each abstract you delete saves a minute or five for you and your team. A cleanup that removes hundreds of abstracts can save hours of time screening abstracts that are guaranteed to be excluded. We think that’s a win.
We hope you enjoy using the new feature, and would appreciate any feedback!
Thanks,
Team Scipilot.
